Writing

I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember, even if it wasn’t “real” writing. By that, I mean putting pen to paper…or fingers to computer keys. A lot of my writing is done in my head. Some of that never sees the light of day or even gets past the initial thoughts. It could be something as simple as a brief thought, “wouldn’t it be cool if…?” It’s just a thought that pops in, maybe I’ll follow that thought for a brief moment, but usually things like that are just as quickly forgotten about. But even in those few brief seconds, it is writing. There are characters, there is a story (no matter how short), and some movement from point A to point B.

The actual writing comes when I sit down to, well, actually write. Ideas I think are great, and, of course, things I’m getting paid for. Or hope to be paid for in the future.

I started being paid to write in the early 90s when I wrote for a very small, local newspaper. Not long after that I wrote and edited some short stories for my college magazine. And, a few years later, I went to work for Wizard: The Guide to Comics. I wrote, researched, and edited for Wizard, InQuest, and Toyfare for nearly 7 years.

Then, from there, I packed up my things and moved to Hollywood, where I’ve been writing for Television ever since. I’ve written for multiple animated shows, wrote a few movies, and even a comic.
